nursery progress...

things are moving right along in georgia's room...funny that her room is the only room in the whole house that has window treatments. anyways, we found a bookcase for all her books (for $7.00 i might add) and the glider came a couple of weeks ago and i am looking forward to spending lots and lots of time together in that chair.
isn't it awesome...here's a close up shot. the fabric is so great and matched our colors and other fabrics so well. i am truly in love with this chair....
and the story behind this painting...when we moved here we quickly became friends with the couple who taught our Sunday school class, Brian & Ashley. she is an amazing artist, among everything else and i saw this painting one day in her studio and fell in love. it wasn't finished at the time and still it took my breath away. the Shepherd and His sheep. i loved it. fast forward a couple of years...just recently she asked if i wanted her to paint something for georgia's room...my answer was 'yeah, i want the Shepherd painting' i was laughing when i said it because i knew it wasn't finished and she of ALL people has the least amount of free time but last week she called me and showed up with the painting...

she even put some pink flowers in the grass! i couldn't get my hands on it just yet, she just brought it by to look at the colors with the room and is doing some other finishing things to it, but my goodness...isn't it beautiful! i can't wait to get it framed and hang it in my baby girl's room. what a blessing this picture will be for her (and me). i will tell her every single day about the good Shepherd. every. single. day.

New Territory....

I rode the bus to middle school everyday and all the 'bus' kids would be seated in the gym bleachers until the first bell rung. It was cool (and safe) to ride the bus back then and we lived in a neighborhood with lots of my friends. So each morning we had maybe 20-30 minutes of social time in the bleachers until school started. I remember a couple of times when one or two of my friends would get off the bus and walk right past our normal spot to the end of the row and make their way to the "Top of the Bleachers". It was where most of the cool 6th graders gathered and maybe, just maybe if you were lucky, you would be invited as a 5th grader to sit one day at the "Top of the Bleachers". As a mere 5th grader, I quickly became fascinated with sitting up top one day and until the day that I experienced it for myself, I watched as the cool kids walked by and took their seat. The seemed so cool in an effortless kind-of way...Nevermind that it was unknown territory, I wanted to be one of those kids.....

This week is 32 weeks. We are going to the doctor bi-weekly now and it wasn't too far back when I was newbie. I remember sitting in the waiting room during our first months looking at all the "'pregnant" girls. I mean about to pop pregnant. They seemed so cool in an effortless kind-of way as well. I knew that I would be where they were in due time, but I couldn't help but think of middle school when I had those same kind of feelings. And now, I am 'one of them' with the belly and waddle to prove it. And each time I see one of the sweet faces of the newly pregnant people around me I laugh a little inside remembering the sweet days I had dreaming of this new territory.
I got invited to sit at the top some in 5th grade and by 6th grade our whole little crew paraded itself there every morning. And as you can imagine, the 'Top of the Bleachers' was NOT what it was cracked up to be I soon found out. However...this stage of pregnancy is more than I could have ever imagined. Each week the anticipation of meeting my baby girl grows along with my waistline. Her clothes are washed. Her bed is made. And her mommy & daddy are ready and thankful for the new territory that she will bring...

Thank You Samford!!!!

Tuesday morning our friends at Samford threw us a party! Special thanks to Ashley and Leia for putting it together.

Everyone brought books for us. Here is a picture of Georgia's library. Thank you all for the books and I can't wait to read them to her and tell her who they are from.

This is my favorite picture from the party. Everyone seems to be enjoying themselves. Jeff (seated in the back with the toys in his hands) seems to be having an especially good time. Lori (his wife) needs to make sure he doesn't forget to take his medication before she lets him go to another party.:-)

Heather and I appreciate and love you all very much. God Bless, Harold

Showers of blessing...

We have had 3 showers in the last 10 days. 2 in Auburn and 1 here in Birmingham. The love and excitement from all our friends and families has been truly overwhelming. This morning I sat in the glider in Georgia's room and looked around at all the gifts we have received from our loved ones and was quickly brought to my knees in thanksgiving for all we have been blessed with. I cannot wait to share this little girl with each of you who have graciously shared your love and support with us. I long to be the kind of friend that I find in so many of you...I hope I get the opportunity to return the blessing!

Here's some pictures to enjoy...

Here's Cindy, Me, Robin & Susan. They hosted one of the showers in Auburn AND they all are betting that I'll wear themed sweaters when Georgia gets here...That will be the day!Harold's sister, Michelle, surprised me and came all the way from Tulsa, OK to be at the baby shower here in Birmingham with Harold's mom. What a sweet Aunt & Grandma! She also gave me the most amazing foot massage after a long day on my feet. Does it get better than that??? My mom (or Cissy as Georgia will call her) has been making the shower rounds with me. I cannot imagine going through this journey without her. Her mom wasn't living when she was having her babies so I count each day she travels this road with me a true blessing!

Here's Summer, Shauna, Mrs. Downer, Kelly, Me, Aunt Carol & Courtney. Kelly and I go way back to high school and Mrs. Downer is the one who I credit with bringing Harold to me because she hired him to work for Auburn 5 years ago. Deann and I...She had on the most amazing wedges so I figured she could make the blog post ;) Plus, I kinda adore her as well. Here are the girls that hosted the shower in Birmingham. Heather, Kirsten, Lisa, Me, Haley & Dede. Heather & Dede are my friends from church...Lisa and I met through bible study...Kirsten and I met the first day of 5th grade...and Haley was and still is the girl in my life who loves me the way Jesus commands!Summer and I met through work several years ago. Besides being a great friend, she is the most loyal Lina Designs customer around :) She gave birth to adorable, Henry, 12 weeks ago.I tried to be cute...I really did. But after 30 minutes or so, my feet couldn't take it anymore and Summer felt the need to catch the switch on film. Gee thanks Summer ;)Haley decorated everything in zebra print and hot pink for the shower. It was adorable! I love this picture Amber took. I love that you can read the scripture and see my belly in the same shot. This scripture is a promise for my baby girl. I can't wait to share the Word with her. Oh and look-e-here...These are the faces of such goodness. Between me and Courtney, they have been making their baby shower rounds and doing it quite well I must say. What a joy to have them in my life!

Again...Thank you all for celebrating this amazing time in our lives with us. We love you!!!

georgia's room...

i've got lots and lots of good things to post about but we've spent every minute at home the past two days finishing the back wall in georgia's room...so here ya go
it turned out even better than expected. my friend, haley, who is a decorator came over friday and drew them to scale and we got half painted before i had to leave for the weekend. so harold and i finished them up last night and even he is in love. this morning he was combing the house looking for other things we could paint diamonds on...bless him. anyway, the bedding should be done this weekend. the chair should be in sometime in the coming weeks. gotta find a rug and some other stuff but besides that gigi has got herself a room. a very cool one at that.

and speaking of this weekend...i will get to that post in the coming days. i am still overwhelmed by the love and support and gifts of our family and friends. i love you ALL!!!!!!
