georgia on my mind...

for the first time, i'm not referring to 'my' georgia. harold and i are leaving tonight headed to auburn to drop off georgia, then off to savannah for a few days. he has work to do and i'm tagging along. i am excited to spend a couple of days alone with my sweet husband and look forward to some alone time as well while he's at the conference. my parents are just as excited to spend some time with georgia and while i know she'll be in good hands, i am already missing her...i think she inherited her daddy's bald gene...whatcha think?her eyelashes have started to really grow and her eyes are turning hazel. you can see the color in this picture as well as those chubby cheeks that i love to kiss.
look ma...no hands! this picture is my new favorite. when i downloaded this picture i suddenly realized that she is outgrowing the newborn stage and starting to look like a baby girl. and a very pretty one at that.
and this one...her daddy had just walked in from work. this was the greeting he got. priceless.

ya'll have a good week/weekend. and if you're so inclined...send a prayer up for my anxious heart :) love from bham...

the last days...

in less than two days, i will be 30. that same day, georgia will be 16 weeks. where does the time go?
she is doing so great. such a joy to be her mother. each week just gets better and better. i hope that never ends. so here's what she's up to:
she has started reaching for her bottle when i feed her now. usually i hold her close to me when i feed her but sometimes, just sometimes i lay her down so that i can stare past that bottle into her eyes. she can't speak yet with her voice, but oh she can communicate with those eyes.and last week we tried some cereal for the first time. it started out well. but what went in...came right back out! no rush though. we'll try again another day.and we are hearing the beginnings of her laugh. she has got smiling down. talking too. and every now and then when she feels like it, she will let out a little chuckle. next to the trumpets we'll hear when jesus comes for us, that is the most precious sound. so baby girl is good. real good.

and me...well, these last days of twenty-something have handed me a chance to remember the years gone by. good years. couldn't say that at the time for some, but yes, they were good. many have been full of mistakes and a few have been full of victory. one year took a life. another has given it. one brought salvation, one brought puberty and another brought me my husband. they have brought new cities, new jobs, new homes, and a new church. one i spent wishing. another trying to forget. many have brought restoration and forgiveness. many have served to heal. they have all built on the one before making me stronger...wiser...a little more patient and hopefully, a little more like jesus. i can now see clearly the lessons in most of them and they all point to heaven. the one who ordained all my days before they came to be has used each of those 29 years to teach me about himself...so here's to the years to come...be it 5 or 50. i hope i can ALWAYS look back and see the hand of god in my life making all things work for his purpose.

30 candles, eh? well at least i have a couple of helpers around when it's time to blow them out.

the fair is in town and...

i secretly want to go. nevermind the rides...nevermind the fact that i'm hanging on to more baby pounds than i'd like to admit...i want a funnel cake and a caramel apple. however, taking a 14 week old to the germ infested fair isn't an option, so i quickly got over it. fast foward till today and i was browsing online during georgia's naptime and found this on a random blog and thought i'd share...so if you're around our house anytime soon, stop by. these will most likely be hanging around ;)

mini caramel apples

1) Wash and peel a large, fairly tart apple like Granny Smith. Using a melon baller, extract balls of apple. A large apple will yield about 6 balls (plus scraps for you to snack on). Place in a bowl and sprinkle with lemon juice.
2) Prepare a dipping station. You can use mini cupcake papers (as shown above) and lollipop sticks. In addition to a bowl of warmed caramel apple dip, you may want to add chopped nuts, m&ms; or sprinkles.
3) Carefully spear each ball of apple through the ROUND end (not the part with the skin). Keep the flat end on the bottom, so they stand upright. Using a paper towel, blot off the excess lemon juice. This is important- if the apple has too much juice left on it, the caramel won't stick.
4) Dip the apple in the caramel, using a twirling motion to coat it evenly.
5) Transfer the apple to the nuts and roll, using a gentler twirling motion.
6) Stand the apples upright in the cups and let them chill in the fridge to solidify.

i think it's time for

i think it's time for our first parent/teacher conference with ms. dede because this is what ga is learning at 'big girl school'...

and this is what these shenanigans produce...

so needless to say, our baby girl is learning lots of new tricks. she is getting so big. so big. our 4 month appt. is in 2 weeks and i can hardly believe it. she is doing so well. has a bit of another cold, but nevertheless she is thriving...here she is standing up which she has done for quite some time...big, strong legs i tell ya... and she is holding that big ole' head of hers up quite nicely
and well, this picture i just thought was blog worthy. if you have been around her you recognize this look. quite the pensive baby. (thanks sherry)
ya'll have a good week. love from us all...

leg warmers, birthday wishes and a super hero

g. marie will be 14 weeks old wednesday. my how time flies. the more attentive she becomes, the more concerned i become that she will not recognize her own name. seems that each week brings a new nickname and surely that will cause confusion for that little mind, but alas we will continue with the endearing names that come so easily to us... speaking of endearing...i missed the whole leg-warmer fad in the 80's but it is back and i am loving it. for georgia of course. here is her new pair...
these could become a serious addition. i love them. the way that roll at the top of her thigh spills out of that leg-warmer is just about all i can bear. uh, so yummy.
update...georgia is quite the vocal child. lots to say. lots and lots of opinion. i adore it really. she is my child for sure. did i mention she has lots to say. AND she loves sleep. last night was a record for her. almost 11 hours straight. woke up for breakfast and wanted a nap. she is my child for sure.

and somebody very special turned 4 years old this month...
her party was friday night at the gymnastics place and leotards and smiles were in order.

and just what would a party be without a big sister to help make those birthday wishes and a super hero brother???
happy birthday again walker j. hope all those sweet wishes come true!

Of all the things we

Of all the things we teach Georgia, the most important things are about our Lord. In all things we are to praise Him. I think she is getting the idea...
"Praise the Lord"...
and again I say "Praise the Lord". That a girl baby.
Now this was a picture of our living room pre-Georgia. I mentioned to Harold that we needed to make some room for her toys and when I out running errands yesterday, he moved stuff around and created 'stations' for her. So here's what we have...
so if you're a guest anytime soon...scoot the swing over and have a seat :)
Georgia was in full support of the Tigers yesterday thanks to the gear her Chief bought her.
2 bits, 4 bits, 6 bits a dollar...All for Auburn

Stand up and Holler!!! (which she does well)
And can someone please explain how this child can scoot her way out of the positioner...to the end of her crib, THEN turn herself sideways. All in her swaddle. Amazing.

pics as promised...

this was just last month. she curled up like a sweet newborn.
and now...where did my baby go?
to clarify...georgia is an auburn fan. BUT...her name is georgia and her daddy loves that team so i will let her pull for both EXCEPT when they play each other!
and my favorite face. she has quite the pouty lip already. she goes from this...
to this quicker than any baby i know. she turns it on and off in a split second. it is quite amusing.
she is 12 weeks old today and talking more to us each day. i guess she's around 13lbs but we'll find out next month. harold and i are so glad to be getting decent sleep again and even more excited that she is awake more and more each day. she is a doll. i love her so.

well now...

i just realized it has been almost two weeks since the last post. geez, what have i been doing in all my spare time? hee hee hee

lots going on over here in our world....football season has arrived. georgia visits georgia. and it looks like we got ourselves one exciting election. so...pics and stories are to come. ya'll stay tuned.

edited to add: i can't figure out why the text is so small. it won't let me change it. hope ya got on your looking glasses :)
