snow white ballet

* i've tried to rearrange these pictures with captions and it keeps messing up so they are in the wrong order and without caption but i've overspent my time and i got a curly headed girl calling my name.  enjoy anyway*

this past saturday georgia and i met friends for the snow white luncheon and ballet.  we bought tickets to have lunch and pictures made with the 'real' snow white and then we all headed over to the theater for the ballet.  i knew she'd be fine through lunch but i was a little concerned that she wouldn't make it through a hour ballet.  to my surprise she said through the whole things with little talking and lots of clapping.  i'm not sure if she had more fun getting a ballerina necklace from snow white herself or running in the grass on the samford campus after the ballet.  either way it was such a fun day...fun and funny too...the girls ended their time at the restaurant with a wrestling match.  one of the slept through most of the ballet.  they were dirty and sticky and happy.  so typical.  so beautiful. here are some pictures from the day...

a glimpse of growth

the warm temperatures have handed us hours {yes hours} outside these last days.  normally i notice all the things that are overgrown and ready for spring to come and have it's way with them.  but today i couldn't help but notice how much we've grown.  along with warmer air time has brought a willingness to abandon shoes to embrace the rough grass.  a braveness to slide headfirst, backwards and standing right up.  a funny realization that bodies grow and can't fit into little pink water buckets anymore.  and mostly for her and myself that with every season change there are good good things awaiting...

we hold hands

playdough is a must in our house.  i love it.  she loves it.  and between us both we can spend lots of time together doing something we both actually enjoy.  i mean i'm all up for candyland and blocks and fairy dancing but when i actually like doing what we do it lasts a lot longer.  anyway, the other day ms. bossy pants was telling me what to make and she wanted ' a family'.  she's all about some 'family' right now. anyway, i made harold first because he's most important.  then she wanted mommy so i made myself {with great layered hair as you can see} and when i handed the playdough mommy to georgia she placed it on the tray and smooshed my hand against harold's hand and said " they hold hands".  i smiled then made her and she took the baby and smooshed her hand against the mommy's hand and said it again, "they hold hands"...

ain't she the sweetest?  and of all the things she imagines when she thinks of a family, God love her for thinking that holding hands is top priority.  cuz' really...it is.

happy tuesday.  hold a hand today okay?

sharing spaces

sometimes i don't fully realize how beautiful it is to be able to share our 'space' with this girl of mine.  let's be real...stained slipcovers and dirty carpets and colored on walls and torn book pages don't always seems so...beautiful.  sometimes the mess is all i can see.  but then i upload a bunch of random pictures and i'm able to look at our space and our lives and our time together through different eyes.  eyes that are freshly awake, not tired from the day or from the mess.  and i can appreciate this beautiful chaos around me in ways that is a gift.

me in her space:

when i went to get her from a nap she wanted me to lay with her.  i couldn't resist.  the bars could have broken.  the mattress could have snapped.  all hell could have broken loose and we would have been unaware.  just thankful to share some space together...

i love this picture because it so represents the best of this time together.  my husband would say that my closet habit is NOT my best {or at least he hopes not} but he will tenderly allow my daughter's shoes to be perfectly placed amoungst the mess so that we both can be reminded to enjoy every second of this beautiful chaos.  and to just be thankful to share this space together...

we are family

i went to read and rock georgia to sleep this afternoon and instead of rocking she told me that she wanted to get in her bed with "them" and "be a family". so i had to arrange her stuffed animals up around her head and each one had to have a spot and then she smiled and said "we're a family". god love her.

unfortunate

sometimes in the middle of an ordinary, rainbow filled, kumbayah singing, craft painting and life loving day i get reminded that we live in such a bad place. bad bad things happen and there are bad bad people. one of which who has decided to 'follow' our blog. i'm not sure who real or not real the threat actually is but nonetheless i am taking it as serious as a mother hen would. so as of friday this blog will be password protected. there are lots of you who i know and have your email...several more who i don't know {and some i do} but don't have your email to give you access. if you'll just send me a personal email at favoritefoodsfriday{at}gmail{dot}com then i'll be happy to add you. for those who came innocently to catch a glimpse of our lives i do apologize that the saying holds true...one bad apple spoils the whole bunch. this blog was setup as a scrapbook of sorts and will continue to be that way but i will not allow some pervert to have access to my life and the stories of my daughter. no way. no how.

besides that. happy monday. we're going to resume our kumbayah singing now...
