thirty something...

today is my thirty-first birthday. i know i know...happy birthday to me. i love birthdays. and i love presents. getting them AND giving them. and i love love me some birthday sheet cake. the kind with the icing made from crisco that sticks to the roof of your mouth. that kind.

we went to dinner last night at Zoe's, some friends took me out for lunch today and now i'm just waiting on my right arm {a.k.a. georgia marie} to wake up so that i have someone to talk to. not much else going on today except i gotta run out to find a navy shirt to wear this weekend for our photo shoot. we're getting georgia's pictures made and some family shots as well in downtown birmingham on the cobblestone streets. i'll be sure to share when i get them.

so i thought it would be fun to share a little more about me since it is my birthday and all...here's 4 things that i am really loving right now {besides God, Harold & Georgia..duh}

1. this dress from anthropologie {would be perfect with my cowboy boots and a cardigan}

2. these handmade curtains {i'm trying to get up the nerve to make these.}

3. this poster from etsy {ordered it a few weeks ago...have to get it framed}

4. and finally...candy corn & peanuts. {if you haven't tried this mix do yourself a favor and go now.}

why 4 things you ask?? well...3 + 1 for my 31st. and i figured 4 was plenty. besides, 31 things about me would so put you to sleep. so there ya go. thank you for the birthday wishes and if anyone feels inclined to send that 200.00 dress from anthropologie my way, i'll be happy to forward you my address....

baaaaaaaaahaaaaaaaaaaahaaaaaaaaa.

have a good one. you know i will.

nap time

this is how georgia was napping the other day. i wanted to re-position her but have learned my lesson way too manys times regarding that subject.

harold pointed out to me that georgia was without a shirt in all the pictures from the last post. i reminded him {and now telling you} that if your temp was 104 in the middle of an alabama september, you'd be topless too. well. at home at least.

on another note...we are still working on the living room/dining room re-do. it's coming along quite well and i'm having some good times trying to piece together everything on our budget. what is ironic is that 5 years ago we bought several pieces of furniture to coordinate with each other. not matchy matchy...just coordinate. and now i'm selling it all to replace it with a hodge podge mix. how things change huh. pics to come though...got it get it all done first.

enjoy the weather. we sure are. love from the ham....

smiles : afros : and a big war eagle!

phew.

somebody is finally feeling better. last night was the first night of complete sleep that all of us have had in over 2 weeks. georgia has been fever free for 48 hours and all {i mean ALL} of her energy has returned. plus some. and big smiles too. so tomorrow is a school day and hopefully this will be her first full week at school. she'll be fine. she really needs some entertainment. like really does.

last week {when i was completely bored out of my mind trying to entertain her and myself while we were homebound} i decided to play with her hair. i told her she was an auburn unicorn girl. whatever that is. and proceeded to laugh so much that i finally got her laughing about it too. i thought this was the funniest thing...

it was the funniest thing until this weekend when georgia decided she wanted velcro rollers in her hair like her 'cissy'...

introducing the real g diddy...

now tell me that isn't the best afro you've seen. fyi : velcro rollers + bi-racial hair = FUN TIMES.

and speaking of fun times...war eagle. georgia says we're going undefeated this year. all the way to #1.

be back sooner than later. got lots to catch you up on...

still here...still sick

10 day now. cough/congestion/wheezing/fever/chills. her fever just now was 104.6 and she has NEVER fallen asleep on the couch in the middle of the afternoon. she doesn't feel well at all. we saw the doctor on sunday and they found an ear infection {1st one ever} but after 3 days of antibiotics and no improvement i'm not sure that an ear infection is the only culprit so we'll be back at the doctor in the morning.

pray for her please.

no need for words. the

no need for words. the picture says enough. georgia has herself a big ole' case of the 'nasties'. cold/congestion/fever/cough...you name it. doesn't look like she'll get to school this week. so much for getting her used to it. oh well, we'll try again next week.

aren't you glad there won't be green eye goop in heaven. i sure am.

15 months old

don't you wish you were this cute with bed-head?

she was feeling good here last week. not so much today though. got a nasty ole' cold. even in her eyes. yuck. and with molars coming in and a round of shots today to add to it. not very fun for my girl. besides that we're good...here's the 15 month update:

*33 inches tall & 26.8 lbs both are 95th percentile
*beginning to run
*still a great eater {obviously} but will not drink milk. will not.
*down to one nap a day. sometimes 1 hour. sometimes 3 hours.
*saying over 100 words regularly. will say more if i say it first.
*stringing two words together. mommy's shoes...daddy bye...pizza hot...etc
*still sleeping 12-13 hours a night
*eats just about anything we do. loves cheese pizza/ grilled cheese / oranges / nilla wafers
*love to climb. climb on anything.
*7 teeth and 2 molars coming now
*grabs our fingers and leads us to what she wants to do like take a bath...get her juice...go outside

and some fun stuff...

*when we pray she says amen the whole time. and when she points to her eyes when you are asking her body parts she always shuts them and says amen.
*she also says 'dutch' for truck and it enunciates it really well. it's quite funny.
*she says i-ya-u {i love you} every time i put her in her crib
*and no matter what i ask her like...what shape is this...what color is this...what animal is this...she says 'heart'. and she says it before you even get the sentence out. and so i ask her what the bible says about your heart and she says amen.

so there you go. too much info that you asked for i know but i like to look back so this is mostly for me to remember. i feel blessed. extra blessed today. amen.

big girl stuff...

http://www.youtube.com/get_player

i realize that most of you aren't interested in 1 minute 11 seconds of my child eating but for those who are...enjoy. we're making some serious progress in the big girl department. with eating AND talking. which she does both non-stop :)

speaking of big girls...we go tomorrow for her 15 month checkup so i'll update after the appointment. she'll be at home from school with me tomorrow. i'm pretty sure she has pink eye in both eyes so we'll be in the house for a couple of days. got some antibiotic drops and lots of warm rags around.

she's already down for the night...harold is in the chair reading and i'm about to join him. i love sunday. hope you've enjoyed your rest today as well. it is a gift from a very special Giver.

making progress...

today was day 3 of georgia being at school. the teacher said she has gotten a little better each time. so that's progress. although today when i pulled up to the carpool line she started saying 'no no' and shaking her head. now how in the world does a 15 month old remember where she has been only 2 times in her life. amazing.

this was her this morning before we left for school. don't let the anxious look trick you in to thinking she was ready to go to school. she wanted to go outside to play in the mulch.

she came home in a completely different outfit because they got to eat cupcakes for someone's birthday and majority of the icing was on her clothes.

i know it's only 12 hours a week, but being away from her for any amount of time is never my first choice. it may be good for her...it may be good for me...it may be good for lots of other things too, but she is mine and i am hers and we are quite content 6 inches from each other at all times {except at night of course} anyway, all that to say today when i picked her up i was really glad she was a school girl now. why? because i love a preschool craft more than anything else in this world...

look at her new school bag...

we do crafts here at home but i LOVE a surprise craft. especially with my child's handprint on it. if you aren't in to a refrigerator covered in this kinda stuff, stay away from our house. i'm actually trying to figure out a way to turn the wall in our kitchen into a bulletin board so i can see all this stuff all the time. did i say that i love me a preschool craft???

and this came home today too...

now i laughed out loud when i pulled this out of her folder. happy? georgia? at school? well okay. i guess today she was feeling happy. which is a very good thing.

all in all, i think she {we} will get used to the whole school thing and really enjoy it. not much going on this weekend. it's raining here but i must say i'm feeling a little happy myself. joyful really. happy comes and goes. joy NEVER ends.

ran.dom.

well hello there. been a while huh. things are good here. been a busy 8 days since we last talked. got limited time {and energy} to do a total recall but i knew i had to get something up before our parents started sending hate mail to us for not posting. so here's some of what we got going on 'round here...

still working on the self-feeding thing. i think we might be falling into the one step forward..two steps back pattern.

i try to let her do it in the afternoon so that when harold gets home he doesn't even notice or care about the mess because he's so ready to get his hands on that little girl. is that pathetic or what! ;)
i'll keep trying though. another thing she is doing is putting her belongings not where they belong. like last week harold opened his briefcase and found her socks stuffed in the pocket. and the other day i found her sippy cup with juice in it, in the buffet. and i wonder why we have ants....

and of course her first day of school last friday. was supposed to be wednesday but she was under the weather so friday was the day. not a good day. lots of tears the teacher said. she goes again tomorrow so we'll see. she's had ulcers in her mouth this weekend which popped up saturday so i'm starting to think it was more stressful for her than i realize. but anyway, here she was carrying her lunch bag around before i changed her and got off to her first day....

i'll keep you updated about the school thing. pray for us. she needs to be okay with being somewhere besides 6 inches from me. {not that i'm complaining}

she's also into copying every thing i do. which is okay most of the time. like when i put the keys into the door or curl my eyelashes or dance. it is cute to see her try to figure out this world. but it's not so cute when she sees me put on pants and immediately squats down because she sees me do that to loosen them up. that was a reality check. gotta watch myself...

despite her malady, we watched the georgia game with friends saturday and she got to wear her too small cheerleading outfit {thanks to uncle tim} and i must admit that she was pretty darn cute even if she wasn't in orange and blue...

and lastly the builtins are coming along. gotta a little more fine-tuning to do, but georgia {and maggie} love them. this has become georgia's favorite spot so i guess we aren't putting in that bottom shelf just yet. more to come about those.

so again...we're pretty good here. promise it won't be this long before we talk again. enjoy your tuesday. love from us all...
