Yesterday was our first time

Yesterday was our first time back to church since Georgia arrived. She was quite the trooper and listened well as her daddy taught Sunday school..even enjoying a bottle half way through the lesson. She was even up for a lunch date after church and as if that wasn't enough, she even settled right down for a Sunday afternoon nap when we got home. Could we have asked for more???? Here she is sound asleep in her cradle after church...
Before we went I told her about all our friends she would get to meet for the first time and how excited everybody was to meet her. She seemed amused...
I can't wait for her to grow up some and really be able to enjoy our church as much as we do. What a blessing to be part of such an amazing group of believers!

growing girl...

yesterday was our two week appointment with the pediatrician. georgia has gained over a pound in two weeks and grow almost an inch. she weighs 7 lbs 13 ozs and is a little over 21 inches. tall and skinny. however, she is now drinking a good 3 ozs at each feeding (every 3 hours) so i'm anxious to see how long it takes to develop those irresistible rolls on those skinny legs of hers. i am quickly realizing just how fast this newborn stage passes. her ears are still folded over a bit, she still scrunches her legs up like a frog, and that newborn fuzz still covers her body but slowly she is growing into a different girl. so here's to the last picture with the remnants of a life lived dependent on me...

her umbilical cord fell off shortly after this picture. what a big girl now.

Well we have made it

Well we have made it through our first week at home. With each passing day I am becoming more settled with this new life of ours and Harold and I are quickly figuring out just how she fits into our world.

So, here's a few pics from recent days.

This was her first time sleeping in her big girl bed...We have been putting her in the cradle in our room but I think she prefers her bed, in her room. We'll see.

Quite the over-achiever, huh? She loves getting her hair brushed.

This is one of my favorite pictures thus far. Those kisses are the sweetest thing. I'm not sure if I prefer them more from her or my big baby :)

Her newborn skin is starting to peel off...The beginnings of many more changes to come I know. This picture reminds me than we are constantly being made new in Christ and I am so thankful for that!

I have sat down at

I have sat down at the computer the last couple of days to post only to find that each time I do I cannot find the words to describe the last week. I have felt EVERY emotion at one time or another and still find myself trying to make sense of the miracle unfolding in our lives. I wish there was more that I could say right now, but again for the first time in my life, I am speechless. Thank you all for loving us and for your prayers. I tell Georgia frequently how much she is loved and I certainly feel it too...

Here's some pics from the last couple of days...

She only wants her paci for a few minutes after she eats and then she spits it out. This time I guess she was a little too tired and just let it hang out :)

All swaddled up and ready for bed...This was a picture from her first night at home. What a peaceful baby.

My mom (Cissy) has been here every day since we brought her home. She just left this morning and already we miss her deeply. I could NOT have gotten through the last days without her love and support and comfort. I hope I can be a mommy like that to Georgia. Mom, you are the best and I am so glad that my baby girl has you to love her.

We had our first 'outing' today. A trip to Babies R Us for some bottles & such. She did so good...Not one complaint about that car seat. What a good girl.

Rest assured more pics will follow. Again, thank you for all the love and support. So many of you have traveled through these last months with us and it is a true joy to share her with you...

Update...

We are still hanging in there. Our appointment on Friday went well but my blood pressure was a little high so I monitored it over the weekend and returned again to see the doctor this morning and although the numbers are still high, all else looks good so we'll go back again on Friday to see if any progress has been made and make sure everything else is stable. She (our doctor) did say that she won't let me go more than a few days past the 18th if Georgia doesn't come before then so I feel better knowing that by next weekend (the 20/21st) things will get going.

Nevertheless, I'm in good spirits...just ready to meet my baby girl :)

My First Love...

Our first doctor's appointment was at 6 weeks pregnant and with every passing month another appointment would come and go...And with those appointments, Harold was with me. He held my purse while I weighed, stood in the hallway while I gave blood, and was my entertainment during the long waits in the tiny rooms. Our eyes were fixed on each other when we heard her heartbeat for the first time and he was the one who got the first glimpse of her during our first ultrasound. He has dreamed every dream of her with me and shared every fear. He has patiently listened to me talk about her day after day and has never seemed unamazed that she has gained another ounce...or grown another centimeter...or finally has fingernails. He is in love with her and appreciates the love I give her as well continually encouraging me as her mother. And he's right...I love her in a way that is so pure. But I must confess...

Harold, you are my first love. You are the soul that completes me. Your love for me is the reason that I can love her so. You were a part of me first and will be long after I deliver her. She will always be our baby, but our marriage is the life & love I am most proud to have created together. I love you and I thank God for you daily. Thank you for allowing Him to rule our house and your heart. I hope Georgia looks just like you!

Summer Fun

Walker
Max
Maggie

I got to babysit Winn for a few hours yesterday while Courtney took the other kids to the pool for some summer fun. Of course my new camera was in tow so I snapped some pictures when they got home from swimming. There is something irresistible about little wet behinds that smell like chlorine :)

just when...

i think i can't possibly get any larger...i do. 38 weeks. 12 days till the 'first' due date. we'll see. i realize this isn't the most flattering picture, but you can fully appreciate the size of that belly at this angle. lovely, huh. i walked around the mall this afternoon for a hour hoping to get things moving. we'll see. harold's heart drops every time his phone rings. he is anxiously waiting for the 'it's time' call. maybe it will be this week. we'll see.
nevertheless, all is good and by the time she gets here, our guests should be able to eat off the floor. i cannot sit still so finding something to clean is a daily occurence. speaking of which, i'm off to clean the fridge out. ya'll have a good one. maybe she'll come tonight. we'll see.
