embrace the camera {with friends} - july 29

paaa-treeee-seeee-aaaaa. or patrcia.

she's my bff from college {and now too} and came to visit. she lives in ATL and doesn't pry herself away from the big city enough to come visit us 'in the country'. but each time she does i take it upon myself to revert back to being 18 years old {not in all ways praise God, just in silly-ness}. anyway, georgia was all about some patricia. we had the best time. it's so refreshing to have friends like her. before she left i dumped out this straw bag she had gotten from brazil {where she's from} and told her that it would be staying with me. along with the pair of silver hoops she was wearing. she rolled her eyes and obliged. it was fun having georgia old enough to 'hang' out with us. she fit right in with her silly self. or maybe patricia and i fit right in with her. who knows. who cares. we all had a blast.

yummy

surely you've heard of Cooking Light. they are part of Southern Living and put out a monthly magazine that I adore. well they've expanded their offerings and have now put out a special edition cookbook on first foods. sounds yummy right??

the magazine is jammed packed with recipes combining the things kids love with smart ways to prepare them. like these sweet potatoes fries...

there is also lots of good information about storing food, measuring food, the nutritional density of food. and so on and so on...

and of course they've thrown in lots of 'comfort food' recipes that are scaled down to their 'light' specifications for little tastebuds. yummy again right???

but page 95 of the cookbook offers something that is beyond yummy. it in fact holds the most yummiest thing ever ever. well to me anyway. wanna see page 95?

aaaahhhhkkkk. my georgia marie. it's been almost a year since we were asked to be part of this project so you can imagine the excitement when i finally had this cookbook in my hands. she looks so young here. well and yummy too. they even used one of the stories i had given to them about our first food experiences. and her picture was printed again...

she's a star. a real celebrity now. if you'd like an autographed cookbook by the yummy georiga marie let me know and i'll see what i can do. seriously, how fun.
fun fun fun.

tha puffs

each time i put puffs in georgia's hair something interesting happens. she becomes a little different. a little more...um...spunky. i kinda understand because when i cut my hair off {which i've done often} there is some part of my personality that the short bob activates. for her, it's the puffs. what was supposed to be a art playdate turned into my 'puff daddy' acting a fool.

she didn't want maggie to paint. she wanted to be all in her space and kept trying to hug {pull really} her away from painting.
she went to get her lotion and wanted to 'brush' maggie's hair. poor girl doesn't understand that most of her friends have no need for kinky curly's 'knot today' leave in conditioner.
maggie is in the middle of potty training so her mama brought her potty and georgia was more interested in seeing if she could fit both feet in the bowl...
seriously she was ALL over this house. i kept telling my friend heather that 'it must be the puffs'. finally i told her that she needed to calm down {cuz she really wasn't doing anything wrong, just being busy. like extra busy} but i told her to be sweet and visit with her company. so she decided to sit her hiney on the table and fold her little hands and watch patiently and quietly while maggie painted. that lasted at least 94 seconds.
before i put the camera up i asked her for a smile. i got this...
those darn puffs. they are something. i gotta remember that before i go puttin' them in daily.
hope you guys had a good weekend. i'm about to burn up. the temp said 104 in my car today. phew. glad i won't be in hell all my life. hopefully you won't be either. peace out....

hiding

i was looking for her and couldn't find her. silly me for not looking in the closet. we've had lots of discussions lately about only being allowed to 'hide' from me when we are at home. never away from home. never never never. my blood pressure couldn't take it.

anyway, that's all i got for today. be back tomorrow okay...

38

today this man of mine turns another year older. we met a few weeks after he had turned 30. i was 23. we've been inseparable since that hot September 8 years ago. i could list 38 great things about this man 38 different times and still have more to go. as he prayed for our family this morning he asked for many more birthdays to come. not because he wants a handmade card and a chocolate cupcake, but because he is the keeper of this house and he is fiercely loyal to that job. being one of those that he loves most is more than an honor. so i'm praying extra today for many more birthdays together as well...

happy birthday baby. happy happy birthday my love.

lip-sick

she found lipstick in my purse. so i found my camera and waited to see what she'd do. obviously she didn't dissapointment. by the end we both were laughing at how silly she looked. she kept saying 'i look pretty'. i kept saying lip-sick doesn't make you pretty. wonder how many times i'll repeat the likes of that these next 20 years?!

two

so that i'll always have a record of what 2 looked like here goes:

37 inches tall {which is off the chart by the way}
32 pounds
talking in full sentences. no more piecing together words.
still napping
expert jumper {like girl has springs for legs}
in love with her momma. she is going through another attachment phase {which i secretly hopes last 83 years}
has excellent memory
knows her abc's and where angels live
is such a tenderhearted child. so much like her daddy. so loving. so encouraging.
and has picked up some more funny words like:

flip bops {flipflops}
sub getti {spagetti}
heli-doctor {helicopter}
ella gator {elevator}
preckles {freckles}

she's super into gender right now too. she asks harold at least 10 times a day if he's a boy. everybody we talk about or see, she says if they are a boy or girl. and she's right most of the time.

also she's asking people frequently if 'you gotta baby in your tummy?' as you can imagine, sometimes this isn't so funny. she doesn't mean to insinuate that they look pregnant, she just wants to know who does and who doesn't have a baby in their tummy. it's because we have some friends who are pregnant that she sees and now she's curious.

and my current favorite thing is that for the last few days when i lay her in the crib for her nap or for nighttime, she looks at me as says..."i had fun wit you day". of course i melt and then tell her that she can't possibly know how much fun i've had with her that day as well.

i kiss her face more often than you can imagine. i also love her more than i could've imagined. year 3 is going to be a good one. i can feel it.

embrace the camera – july 8

a krispy kreme date

georgia and i went to krispy kreme for the first time last saturday. i figured she'd enjoy watching them make the donuts as much as the donut itself. i knew better than to get a chocolate covered sprinkled one, so we choose the original glazed. with sprinkles of course...

i was wrong about the whole 'watching them make them' thing. she was waayy more interested in the donuts. really can you blame her? if you haven't ever had the privilege of eating a krispy kreme right of the conveyor belt you are missing one of life's greatest pleasures. i'm kinda serious. anyway, she was not happy when i told her that we weren't getting another one. i can't remember what she was saying exactly but she was trying hard to convince me that she needed more...
and not just one more either. i asked her how many she wanted and this is what she said. 5. not 1,2,3 or 4 but 5. which would be her whole caloric intake for the day. which would also mean that we'd be up till midnight with no nap. which meant she only got one.
they give the kids a paper hat like the workers wear and can i just tell you that she was way too cool to wear it in the store. she waited till we got into the car and then wanted her hat. go figure.
happy hump day friends. be back tomorrow.
