a peculiar style...
georgia is peculiar. and funny too. i really am amazed at how much personality she already has. she is carefree and happy. well most days. but those days don't make for good blog material :)
no shirt. no shoes. no problem...sometimes it is just too darn hot for clothes!
but never too hot for floaties. indoor or out. she played this way for awhile.
oh and mardi gras beads. loves them.
{and kelly d. please take notice of the matching pjs. ahem.}
and of course...headbands.
have a good weekend. it's going to be a hot one. hope you got a pool near and your suit ready :)

headband diaries
apparently georgia is an accessories girl. i used to could say that she got it honest. i loved me some bangles and chandelier earrings. now i wear one of two things. diamond or pearl studs. that's it. you may catch me with a few random bracelets now and then, but not likely. and i guess headbands aren't really an accessory, but they kinda are for this post. and georgia loves them. these little small ones are her favorite.
there is one problem though...those little teeth on the inside don't exactly get along well with curly hair. tight curls i might add. on the other hand, they are exactly what she needs when her aim isn't so good. like here...
this is how she positions her accessory of choice most days. and those teeth just find a curl to get stuck in until she decides to take it off. then it really becomes a problem...
headband with teeth + tight curly hair = problem.
the funny thing is she just rips it out. fusses for a minute. then puts it back in.
and sometime her aim isn't all that bad like here. she got that on herself. pretty good eh?!
and then we digress...
we were about to get out of the car to visit the library. she had full intention of wearing her headband in. she put it on before we left the house and this was when i was getting her out of the car.
don't you love that look in her eyes like..."what's the problem here?"
no problem big girl. no problem at all. and off we went inside. crooked headband and all.
*edited to add...okay so maybe you've noticed that i not a stickler about matching pj's. nor do i really mind if they are out of season...like the santa pj's she is wearing on her birthday. these tops having matching bottoms i'm sure. but they weren't on the top of the pile. and that's what gets grabbed each night. just so you know :)

a day in the life...
hey, it's me georgia...
sorry ya'll haven't heard from me lately...been busy turning 1. so what does a typical day in a 1 year old's life look like? well, follow me...
went to the zoo on monday to play. just me and mommy. she brought the stroller but i choose to walk...
and pick up every single thing i found on the ground. yes, everything mommy says.
did you know they have pinecones at the zoo. i showed mommy like 100 of them. she was impressed.
and we saw fish...
and we saw tigers...
and we saw giraffes...
and we needed snacks. lots of snacks. and lots of naps too. well. somedays.
but i gotta run. we're headed to publix so i can get a cookie, then the library. not daddy's library. the other one. where i can run around. that library.
aren't you glad i know how to blog? that's 1 year old stuff you know.

love from bham...
and in keeping honest {which mommy says is a must} there has also been some messes and tantrums.

Make it Monday - Guest Room Makeover
bet ya'll thought i forgot about Make it Monday huh?!
so this is a Make it Monday post and the guest room makeover post. of course i had to rush the project a little since we had the old birthday party this weekend, but i'm kind of glad. i have been known to leave a project unfinished. just once or twice though.
so here is the finished project...
here was the before picture:
there is SO much more room now that the sleigh bed is gone. our bedrooms aren't tiny, but they aren't big so we have to be smart about our furniture choices. and having a sleigh bed in there wasn't smart. so we sold it and i had 300.00 to re-do this room. that was it. and i'm proud to say that i only went 30 something dollars over budget . more on that later, but the biggest part of the savings came from making the headboard thanks to the idea from http://pinkwallpaper.blogspot.com/
i made this headboard with:
that's all it took. i have the step by step instructions if you are interested, but everything {fabric included} was less than 50.00 for this queen size headboard. and it looks awesome. this fabric is a knock off of a lulu dk print that i love, but it's pricey. so your fabric cost is important. anyway, here's a tour of the details...

there you have it. so here's the breakdown for the cost:
headboard - see above 50.00
paint - restoration hardware silver sage 32.00 {thank goodness we only needed one gallon}
silk shams - restoration hardware 70.00 {and that is with 50% off too. they were expensive but worth it}
brown quilt - stein mart 39.00
bedskirt - 34.00
frames - 11.00 {had all but 2 of the frames already. i always buy random frames i like when i see them on clearance for this very reason. you'll need them someday}
side table - 43.00 {okay this was a real find. it was in the clearance section of a furniture store. but i took me several weeks to find it. you just gotta keep looking till you find what you want}
lamp - homegoods 29.00
throw pillows - homegoods 24.99 {for both}
red vase - homegoods 3.00
{i had the club chair in the corner...had the bamboo shades...had the sheets. had the books on the side table, just covered them with scrapbook paper}
so there you have it. this room has become one of my favorite in the house. now i'm looking around to see what else i can sell to re-do other rooms. this makes harold nervous ;)
happy monday. georgia is waking and we're off to the pool. love from bham...
