it's gonna be a challenge to get through these next 10 days. we got vacation bible school {vbs} setup, a beach trip, a week of vbs teaching 3rd graders, a big ole' 2nd birthday and then a very special party planned. lord willing i should say. don't worry though. i'll still be here daily with pictures that i am enjoying sharing. lord willing i should say. and georgia and i will figure out a way to fill the big shoes we have to walk in.

whatever your views are on politics...or war...or military...or government...i hope you will take the time today to remember the men and women {many of who are just babies themselves} that willingly fight and give their life for our freedom. the reason you can go to target or church or work or for a walk with your family is due to their sacrifice and service. we are forever indebted to those brave souls.

a few years ago we were in d.c. for a wedding and i remember seeing and photographing this memorial...

i remember thinking as i stared at all the markers of a life given in service that for every soldier who is {or was} on the battlefield there is a mother or father. a wife or husband. a son or a daugther who can reassure us that the freedom is not free.

so on this memorial day our family will remember and pray for those individuals around the world. please join us as well...

i remember this day like it was last week. i specifically remember thinking 104 times that day that i just might have to take a bite out of those thighs. i was really hard restraining trust me. oh my goodness, why is she sooo cute???

harold picked this picture. i think he likes it because it's so typical of our everyday life. meaning when i get georgia dressed usually she has opinions about what shirt goes with what pants. she's super big on 'matching' these days and won't let me mix/match her even her pj's anymore. anyway, this particular morning she insisted that this striped shirt be paired with these striped pants. i mean wouldn't you pair pink striped pants with a pink striped shirt as well???

the invitations for her party will go into the mail this week. i took a peek at the pictures from last year and couldn't resist this one for today. she is asking for cupcakes daily now because we've been talking about her birthday for some time. june 11th is the day for cupcakes i keep repeating. june 11th. as in only 17 days to go.

i looked out the back door to tell them it was time for dinner. i thought they were out there playing in the baby pool but it seems georgia had other plans. she wanted her daddy all to herself. can't say i blame her.

we spent the morning at the park Tuesday with friends. the plan was to feed the ducks with stale bread...

but insteand my child ate the stale bread....

i had given her 3 options for breakfast that morning and she refused them all. maybe i should have offered her stale bread instead. and here are the kids. you know which one is mine but did you know that she is a full 4 to 6 months YOUNGER than these kids?!

i don't realize how much bigger she is than the other kids until i see pictures like this one. then i understand that we may have an amazon woman on our hands. which i am perfectly happy with.

this is in january when she was learning to really talk. it's hard to believe this was only 5 months ago. in those short months she has learned to completely talk circles around me. like full sentence circles. like from sunrise to sunset circles. like if she's awake, she's talking circles. and really, i couldn't love it more.

well this was last night. and i know you're thinking 'what's up with all the naked booty pictures?' but seriously, good thing i decided to walk in there and check on her before i went to bed. this was about and two hours after harold put her to bed. i couldn't believe that she hadn't wet the bed yet. why is she so obsessed with taking her clothes and diaper off ? silly girl.

i guess she's taken the whole 'pants on the ground' thing way too far OR i need to be getting serious about pottytraining :)

this picture was taken may 11, 2009. and well it's may 11 again. that means in exactly one month my girl will have a birthday. i've created the invites, gotten decorations ready, worked out the perfect buttercream icing recipe, but still i can't quite get my head around her being another year older. every one of you mother's know the feeling. sigh. and i tell you one thing...going through the pictures from this time last year did me in. i thought my heart very well may burst. i had forgotten that time. i had forgotten that toothless smile. i laughed and cried. and then had the great idea {well to me anyway} to post a picture a day until june 11th comes round this year. some will be from now. some from then. but all because i want to remember. gosh, how i want to remember.

we are a month out from her second birthday and so i'll always have a record of funny things she says i'm making the list here that i will be certain to add to as i remember different things, but here's a start:
